Practise agreeing a healthcare change with everyone who can block it
Halign is a management simulation, not a clinical one. Each participant plays a stakeholder (physicians, hospital management, patients, insurers or the regulator) and the group has to agree a proposal for change.

Hospitals and health systems
Leadership and change programmes for clinical leads, managers and executives who have to get a change accepted across professional groups.

Master's, MBA and executive programmes in health management that want participants to go through a negotiation between stakeholders rather than read about one.

Market-access, medical and key-account teams who need to understand how a hospital, a payer and a regulator reach a decision.
Management, not clinical
Halign does not simulate patients, vital signs or procedures. It simulates the decisions around care: who has to agree to a change, what each party needs from it and what each will accept. If what you need is clinical simulation, we will tell you.
What participants practise
- Reading a health system as a set of actors with different interests and constraints.
- Finding out what the other stakeholders need before making a proposal.
- Building coalitions and negotiating the terms of a change.
- Testing an intervention in a safe environment before trying it for real.
How a session works
Halign is synchronous: everyone plays the same simulated day at the same time, and the facilitator controls the clock.

Choose a case
Halign comes with several cases, and you can write your own. The roles depend on the case: a hospital management team, physicians, a patient association, an insurer, a technology provider or the regulator.

Take a role
Each participant reads the shared case and confidential instructions for their own role: what they want, where their limits are and what they can do.

Play the days
Each round is a simulated day with a limited budget of action points, spent on requesting information, connecting with other stakeholders, holding meetings and joining the discussion.

Propose and vote
Stakeholders put proposals forward and the parties involved vote on them. Some proposals fail, and that is part of what the group learns.

Debrief
The facilitator follows the activity live and uses the results to debrief: who moved first, which coalitions formed and why some proposals failed.
